The Nuclear Tourist follows the life of Dane, a 17 year old boy who is incarcerated at The Facility, a top secret Russian research centre which clones the world’s most eminent scientists. Isolated, autistic and emotionally abused, Dane’s life holds little meaning until he is assigned to travel to Chernobyl in order to investigate a series of inexplicable deaths which are taking place at the former nuclear reactor.Kidnapped during his stay in Chernobyl, Dane and his would be abductor the enigmatic, self professed psychopath Alex, are accidentally transported back though space and time by the DUGA Array. Landing in Colorado Springs in 1899, Dane and Alex find themselves at the laboratory of Nikola Tesla, who agreed to help them. An experimental time machine propels them onward to 1943 New York where Tesla has created a death ray that could spell the early end of World War II. However Dane and Alex are not alone. Pursuing them from the Facility are Dane’s mentor Zoli and also Dante - Dane’s equally brilliant but sadistic brother - not to mention hostile nations who intend to steal the death ray from Tesla.
A coming of age story, during his adventures Dane must ultimately choose between his own freedom and happiness – including his budding romance with Alex - and potentially saving millions of lives. Does his loyalty lie in stopping the carnage of World War II, or should he return to his own time, to destroy the entity lurking in the depths of Reactor Four?
